Increasing Climate Resilience of the Coastal People through Improved WASH Facilities (Phase-2)
In response to the growing climate vulnerabilities faced by coastal communities in Khulna, a targeted initiative was undertaken in Koyra Upazila to improve access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) facilities. Project Goal
To strengthen the climate resilience of vulnerable coastal communities in Koyra, Khulna by ensuring access to safe, disaster-resilient WASH facilities, promoting gender-responsive hygiene practices, and enhancing community capacity to adapt to climate-related water and sanitation challenges.
Geographical Coverage
The project was implemented in Koyra Upazila under Khulna District, Bangladesh, targeting vulnerable coastal communities affected by climate-related risks such as salinity and flooding.
Targeted Beneficiaries
The project targeted 7,573 vulnerable coastal community members (3,830 male and 3,743 female) in Koyra Upazila, Khulna. Priority was given to women, adolescent girls, children, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) who are most affected by climate-related WASH challenges such as salinity and flooding.
