Strengthened and Informed Migration Systems (SIMS) – Phase 01
Bangladesh has long benefited from international labor migration, with remittances contributing significantly to national development. However, the migration sector has also faced persistent challenges such as fraud, exploitation, misinformation, and weak governance systems.
To address these issues, the SIMS project was implemented in eight upazilas of Chattogram district to promote safer, more informed, and rights-based migration practices. 40 Migration Corners
Established migration corners at 40 Union Parishads across Chattogram.

Secured BDT 935,000 from 38 Union Parishads for safe migration activities.
Major Activities
Conducted courtyard meetings, tea stall sessions, video shows, IPT shows, and graffiti on safe migration.
Delivered 1,126 Pre-Decision Making Orientation sessions for aspirant migrants.
Formed and mobilized 40 Migration Forums as local support networks.
Supported migrant workers and families in cases of fraud, abuse, contract violations, and exploitation.
Provided financial literacy and entrepreneurship development training for migrant family members.
Project Goal
To build a safer, more transparent, and inclusive migration system by empowering migrants and their families with information, justice support, and financial capability.
Geographical Coverage
The project was implemented in eight upazilas of Chattogram district: Anowara, Boalkhali, Chandanaish, Hathazari, Fatikchari, Patiya, Raozan, and Rangunia.
Targeted Beneficiaries
The project targeted aspirant migrants, returnee migrants, migrant family members, and community stakeholders across eight upazilas of Chattogram. Special focus was given to vulnerable migrants, victims of fraud, and women family members requiring financial literacy and livelihood support.

Promoting Safe and Informed Migration
The project created strong community awareness and support systems for safer migration in Chattogram. Through large-scale outreach, orientation, and institutional collaboration, aspirant migrants gained access to accurate information and informed decision-making tools. At the same time, migrant families improved their financial skills, while victims of fraud and abuse received justice support, contributing to a more accountable migration system.
