Forid Alam, a resident of the Ukhiya sub-district and the sole provider for a family of four, has faced life’s hardships with quiet resilience. Living a modest and marginalized existence, his circumstances began to change when he became a participant in a project implemented by PROTTYASHI. Over a period of 17 months, he received vital support, particularly in the area of aquaculture. Despite being illiterate, Forid embraced the opportunity with commitment, seeing it as a path toward securing a better future for his family.
Under the Aquaculture Business Development through Local Service Providers (LSP) project in Cox’s Bazar, he was introduced to the principles of nutrition-sensitive aquaculture. This training significantly enhanced his practical knowledge and skills, leading to improved productivity and a shift toward self-reliance. What was once a dependency on limited income sources transformed into a livelihood rooted in self-employment and empowerment.
With renewed confidence, Forid aspired to expand his aquaculture business and elevate his family’s standard of living. However, he acknowledged the need for continued technical guidance to sustain and grow his venture in the long run.
